SIRF organized an Interaction workshop with Development partners on “Issues of Social Inclusion in Development” on 29th April, 2009. The participants of the program were office head and related officers of donor agencies, INGOs and other development agencies. The preliminary session of the program was chaired by Prof. Dr. Pushpa Shrestha, ISC chairman and she started the session with welcome remark. Honorable Dr. Sunil Babu Shrestha, member of National Planning Commission and Mr. Narsing Chaudhary, Chairperson, National Inclusion Commission were the chief guest of session. Likewise, Mr. Hans Heijdra, Director, SNV – Nepal and Ms. Kamal Bishta, Official of Royal Norwegian Embassy - Kathmandu also delivered few words and Mr. Mohan Das Manadhar, Senior Adviser, SIRF highlighted on SIRF and its activities.

In the research presentation session, there were presentations of four SIRF supported researches. First presentation titled “Domestic Violence in Nepal” was presented by research fellow Jyotsna Tamang [ Power Point Of Ms. Tamanag] which was followed by the expert view of Dr Manju Thapa Tuladhar, Gender & Social Inclusion Adviser, SNV Nepal.
Second presentation titled “Social Exclusion in Education: a study of School Dropouts in Terai and Hill Districts of Nepal” was presented by research fellow, Binay Kushiyait (Yadav) which was followed by the expert view of Mr. Chitra Prasad Devkota, Director, Department of Education
Third presentation titled “Inclusion of Dalits in Micro-Finance Cooperatives in Nepal” was presented by Man Bahadur Bishwakarma which was followed by the expert view of Gokul Ram Thapa, Executive Director, Nepal Rastra Bank.
Fourth presentation titled “Inclusion/Exclusion of River-Affected People in Conservation and Management of Watershed & Natural Resources in Churia Hills” was presented by Bijay Singh Danuwar which was followed by the expert view of Mr. Govind Prasad Kadel, Director General, Department of Soil Conservation and Watershed Management.
The floor was opened after each presentation for discussion in which participants commented on the presentation and also expressed their opinions.
