Interaction Workshop with Political Parties

Remarks :

SIRF had organized a two days interaction work shop on “Issues of Social Inclusion in Constitution”with Political Party Leaders” in 25th and 26th, January 2009 to share the findings of SIRF funded researches and interact on how the social inclusion issues identified by the study would be addressed in the Constitution Making process. The representatives of all 24 political parties of Constitutional Assemble were presented in the meeting. In the Inauguration session Prof. Dr. Pushpa Shrestha, ISC chairwoman chaired the session. Rt. Honourable NPC Vice Chairman Dr. Guna Nidhi Sharma was the chief guest; Mr. Dhaman Nath Dhungana and Mr. Padma Ratna Tuladhar were the Key Note Speaker; Ms. Storholt, Second Secretary of Royal Norwegian Embassy and Mr. Hans Heijdra, Director of SNV were other panel member.

During the program, six of SIRF funded researches were presented and Purna Man Shakya, legal expert made a presentation on Issues of Social Inclusion on Constitution Making. Honourable CA members- Ram Prit Paswan, Suresh Ale Magar, Chitra Lekha Yadav – expressed their opinions in the discussion session and they opined the issues rose by SIRF researches useful for constitutional building process and suggested for its continuity. This workshop succeeded the SIRF’s one to one consultation meetings with major political parties which aimed to brief SIRF and its activities and to know parties’ perception on social inclusion providing the framework for Interaction Workshop. SIRF has been conducting follow up meeting with various political parties to discuss on the SIRF’s support to design social inclusion framework of the party.
